The SEI Forums initiative has been active in 2020 despite the pandemic, moving all events, after the Covenant of Mayors Investment Forum – Energy Efficiency Finance Market Place which took place in February, to an online format.

3 webinars on sustainable energy investment in Member State recovery plans (part I and II) and on financing renovation of social housing in Europe, as well as 4 national roundtable events (Finland, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Croatia)   took place between June and October. All material from these events is available on the SEI Forums webpage.

Next year will be busy for SEI Forums, stimulating discussions and building capacity on energy efficiency finance in line with the Renovation Wave Strategy and linking to the Recovery and Resilience Facility and the EU Sustainable Finance Initiative.

Regarding the EU Sustainable Finance and the classification of sustainable investment proposed therein, the European Commission launched a stakeholder feedback period on the draft Commission Delegated Regulation supplementing Regulation (EU) 2020/852 – the “draft Taxonomy Delegated Act.”

In this way the European Commission invites stakeholders to comment on the draft delegated act that will define what economic activities could be considered substantially contributing to climate change mitigation or adaptation, while not significantly harming the other environmental objectives.
